However, when planning your trip, you may find yourself wondering which season is best for going camping in the Smoky Mountains. If that is the case, then we are here to help! Today, we are going to share some info about each season that can help you decide when to go camping in the Smoky Mountains. Let’s get started:

Spring

spring flowersThe first of the seasons that we are covering when it comes to going camping in the Smoky Mountains is spring, which serves as a popular time for visitors to come and enjoy mild weather, wildlife spotting opportunities, and wildflowers galore. This can be a perfect time of year to go camping for those who are looking to take in all of the natural beauty that the Smokies have to offer, as so many plants are in bloom, and animals are often out and about with their young. As the season goes on, there also tend to be some warm days that are ideal for taking a dip in the river here at our campground.

Summer

Speaking of the river, you will love camping in the Smoky Mountains right along the Little Pigeon River during the summertime, as it provides a convenient and fun way to cool off on a hot day! Overall, the Smoky Mountains do not tend to get too warm during the summer, but when the sun is shining, the river will be calling to you. Whether you decide to float around in the river, or head over to the pool we have right here at Camp RiversLanding, it is easy to stay cool and have a blast during some summer camping in the Smoky Mountains.

Fall

Smokies fall treesWhen fall rolls around, it is time for one of the most spectacular displays that the Smoky Mountains have to offer – the changing of the leaves! This is another popular time for camping in the Smoky Mountains, as the area’s foliage turns vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow, creating a special atmosphere that you won’t soon forget. If you plan to visit during this time of year, we would recommend making your reservations well in advance, as lots of visitors come to see the leaves change each year.

Winter

Although you may not think that you can go camping in the Smoky Mountains during the winter, you can absolutely still have a great time during this season as well! Since we are an RV campground, you will be able to camp from the comfort of your RV and not worry about chilly temperatures outside. If you are looking to enjoy a trip with fewer visitors, check out winter activities like skiing, and more, then we would love to welcome you for a winter camping trip in the Smokies!
