The Smoky Mountains are home to over 200 different kinds of birds, more than 60 different fish species, and over 80 types of reptiles. In fact, the Smoky Mountains are known as the “Salamander Capital of the World” because there are 30 different kinds of salamanders that live here in the area. Some of the most commonly seen animals are white-tailed deer, squirrels, chipmunks, and wild turkeys. And, of course, there are the famous black bears of the Smokies!
